“Ghost Bros”, among the new animation series to be co-produced by RTVE

RTVE has chosen five new animation titles in the 2023 call for entries for broadcasting on the Corporation’s children’s channel, Clan. Among the new series selected is the new children’s animated production “Ghost Bros”, a Zinkia production that combines the supernatural with a good dose of humor. The series was presented for the first time during the latest edition of Kidscreen Summit 2023, the great event of the children’s entertainment industry held last February in Miami.

This new title, created by Yellow Kingdom (Chorch Edelstein) and WeDoo Studio (Emi Ordás) is aimed at a target audience of 7 to 11 years old, and consists of 52 chapters, each lasting 11 minutes. Two orphaned brothers, Sigmund and Gretchel, at the gates of the “Beyond”, invoke clause 665, which states that unadopted orphans are entitled to a new , last chance. They are finally adopted by an unconventional family, with whom they have exciting adventures and who prove that they are capable of achieving complete happiness so that they do not have to return to the underworld.

A total of 26 new series and two season renewals had been submitted to this new RTVE call, which sought attractive formats aimed at children aged 0 to 14. In addition, among its priorities when selecting the projects, the public broadcaster opted for “charismatic characters that generate emotions”; humor, innocence and simplicity for the youngest children, and with references to popular culture for older children with a positive approach”. In addition, the incorporation of values such as critical thinking, equality, coexistence, healthy habits and environmental protection were  also evaluated.

RTVE has also announced, as a novelty for this year, that it will promote a new call for co-production of animation series. This second call for 2023, which will take place in the last quarter of the year, responds to requests from the sector and the search for new quality animation products to feed RTVE’s schedules.
