Clementoni and Troya, new Pocoyo licensees in Spain

The list of licensees who bet on the Pocoyo brand is growing in Spain. A good example of this is Clementoni, a benchmark company in Europe in the educational games and puzzles market. After closing an agreement with Zinkia, it will market different models of puzzles inspired by the character and his friends in the coming months.

Another of the recent alliances is the one reached with Troya, a Barcelona firm specializing in promotional gifts, which has become the new licensee of the “Pocoyó” brand for the marketing of household products. Specifically, Troya will distribute the new Pocoyo tableware, which will be available both at Pocoyo’s Amazon Brand Store and on the website www.maxifiestas.com.

With these new agreements, Zinkia reinforces its licensing strategy in Spain and Clementoni and Troya join other great companies that have also opted for Pocoyó, including Bandai, El Corte Inglés, Claudio Reig, Editorial Planeta, Comansi, Natuaromatic , Royal Talens, CyP, Hoffmann, Gary’s Uniforms and For my Cake.

3,000 new trees planted in Pocoyo´s Forest

“Bosque Pocoyó” begins a new phase of reforestation to plant 3,000 new trees in the recreational area of San José del Álamo, near the city of Las Palmas de Gran Canaria.

The planting of the 3,000 new specimens, which this second action contemplates, is carried out by Foresta (Canarian Foundation for Reforestation), in collaboration with the Cabildo de Gran Canaria through the Gran Canaria Economic Promotion Society (SPEGC). This new stage of the project also has the support of Fundación Aladina and its founder Paco Arango. Thus, in the name of Aladina, 500 specimens will be planted. Bosque Pocoyó, which began in November 2020 with the planting of its first 1,000 trees, also had the sponsorship and support of the Canarian musical group “Efecto Pasillo” and the promoter Javier Santaolalla.

Likewise, and thanks to a donation by Zinkia, the Cartoon Business digital animation seminar, recently held in Gran Canaria, will also have a representation within the reforestation project with a hundred trees planted in its name.

Recover the thermophilic forests of Gran Canaria

Of the 15,000 trees included in the project, with this new action in which a five-hectare plot will be repopulated, more than 4,000 specimens will have been planted of different species such as the wild olive, the Canarian palm tree, the juniper, the drago , broom, or seedlings and mastic. San José del Álamo is part of the Protected Landscape of Pino Santo, which is distinguished by its thermophilic forests and which has historically suffered significant deforestation. Only 2.6% of the more than 40,000 hectares of the island of Gran Canaria that are estimated to have once been covered by this ecosystem and its species are preserved.

After the fires of the summer of 2019 in Gran Canaria, Zinkia -producer of Pocoyo- and the Canarian animation studio KOYI Talent (which has recently been acquired by Zinkia), decided to promote and give life to the Pocoyo Forest in order to raise the awareness of caring for our environment, with a educational and playful approach. This initiative, aimed at combating climate change and leaving a green legacy for future generations, is the first natural space inspired by the internationally recognized children’s animation series.

Bosque Pocoyó is an initiative open to any person or organization that wants to participate in the project and sponsor a tree. To do so, through www.pocoyo.com/bosque, a certificate is issued that identifies the specimen and guarantees the plantation, as well as its care through the first three waterings to insure its viability.

Zinkia acquires the Canary Island animation studio KOYI Talent

Zinkia has reached an agreement with the Canary Island animation studio, KOYI Talent, to aquire 100% of the company. Through this purchase, we add three new properties to our brand catalog and a purchase option on a fourth and we will have our own studio located in Las Palmas de Gran Canaria. From this studio, in addition to carrying out the production of our own content, we will also take on production work for third parties, enhanced by the existing tax incentives in the Canary Islands. With this acquisition, Zinkia consolidates as one of the main references in the animation sector in Spain and Europe, and reinforces its growth.

Zinkia, founded in 2002, is specialized in the production of audiovisual and interactive content for family audiences and distributed through different platforms and devices (television, VOD, YouTube, apps …).

With the purchase of KOYI, Zinkia adds to its portfolio the preschool series “Bumpy: The Bear” made in the traditional animation style and of which, 52 7 minute episodes are planned for production. Production begins in the Spring of 2022, thanks to the agreement that is being closed with a North American company and the probable participation of TVE, which selected it in the last call for series co-production.

Another of the projects is Ghost Bros, a series aimed at an audience of 6 to 8 years old and created by Yellow Kingdom (Chorch Edelstein) and WeDoo Studio (Emi Ordás). This title tells the hilarious stories of two orphans adopted by a dysfunctional family whose purpose is to make all its members happy because, if they do not succeed, they will have to return to the place from which they escaped, the “afterlife.”

Likewise, the integration of KOYI Talent into Zinkia adds the script for a feature film and a purchase option on the intellectual property of the Bugsted brand.

Additionally, our plans for 2022 contemplate the start of production of the fifth season of Pocoyo and new specials for YouTube and digital platforms. We are also working on a new title that we will present next February at Kidscreen Summit, the benchmark event for the content industry aimed at children.

Pocoyo’s special content for this Christmas

Pocoyo advances the next Christmas parties loaded with content proposals. For these holidays Pocoyo will launch the Christmas app “Pocoyo Advent Calendar”, with which girls and boys can count down until the 25th and discover a surprise each day. In addition, the application includes entertaining games such as coloring and puzzles, and dynamics such as decorating the tree and even singing Christmas carols.

The Christmas special, with 120 minutes of adventure and fun, is now also available on YouTube in English and Spanish with a great acceptance. In just 10 days, the two publications added more than a million views.

With this, the little ones can enjoy the song “Deck the Halls”, published on November 23, while next December 7 “Peces en el Río” was released.

Pocoyo, image of the Juguetón campaign in Mexico

This year Pocoyo will be the protagonist and image throughout the world of the Mexican Juguetón campaign. An initiative promoted by the journalist and presenter Jorge Garralda and the TV Azteca network, which in the last 26 years has distributed more than 250 million toys among underprivileged children in Mexico, the United States and several Central American countries.

This campaign focuses on the importance of toys, a stage of life in which personality is being formed. In this context, toys are a tool to reduce the impact of adverse circumstances that surround underprivileged groups.

“Juguetón” promotes the improvement of psychomotor, intellectual, social and physical skills so that the little ones face the future with determination.

Pocoyo joins this project in its 27th edition, faithful to its commitment to the protection of children and their rights.

Zinkia participated in the latest edition of Brand Licensing Europe

Between November 17 and 19, Zinkia was present at Brand Licensing Europe, the event that brings together the licensing industry in Europe and in which a wide representation of brands from the entertainment, sports, consumer and art industries participated.

With our own space in the ICEX pavilion, we had the opportunity to present Pocoyo’s latest news, such as the collaboration we have started with UNICEF or the record figures registered on YouTube, which have made it worthy of a Diamond button.

The media, stars of “Dragon Island”

Recently a group of journalists had the opportunity to be the stars of “Isla Dragon”, the latestst episode of Pocoyo, in which he changes his traditional white background for real images of some of the most emblematic places on the island of Gran Canaria. With the support of the Cabildo, which participated in the co-production of the chapter, they have been able to visit, like Pocoyo and his friends, the most emblematic places on the island and learn about the legend of the last black dragon.

Through the Tourist Board, the Canarian Government’s collaboration with Zinkia seeks to promote Gran Canaria as a family tourist destination among international travelers.

In “Dragon Island”, Pocoyo lives an incredible adventure in search of the last black dragon. Together with his friends Pato, Lula and Elly, Pocoyo visits emblematic places such as Playa del Inglés, the Dunes of Maspalomas, the Natural Monument of Roque Nublo or the Tilos de Moya forest; and throughout the trip they have the opportunity to meet the island’s inhabitants thanks to Pato’s friendly “Canary cousins”.

These and many other places have been  visited by the media that have participated in the press trip, among which are important national newspapers such as El Mundo, Ok Diario or ABC and the radio station Onda Cero.
